PROJECT INFO
Location: London
Completion Date: 2021
Project Type: Corporate Workplace
Scope of Work: Crux Design Studio was engaged to design a vibrant and celebratory workplace for Intact Software’s London office, coinciding with the company’s 25th anniversary. The design reflected the brand’s energetic personality and bold visual identity, while balancing spatial functionality with creative expression. Crux delivered a full Stage 3 pack and collaborated with multiple stakeholder groups across London and Ireland.
Intact Software
Intact Software, a fast-growing and youthful company known for its bright, playful branding, sought a new London office that would embody its culture, values, and recent milestone—25 years in business. Crux was tasked with translating this energy into a workplace that would inspire both employees and visiting teams, while supporting functional needs for collaboration, townhall gatherings, and focused work.
Working across teams in both the UK and Ireland, Crux led the concept design through to Stage 3, delivering a dynamic spatial layout that reflected the company’s optimism, innovation, and inclusive culture. From the start, it was clear that the design needed to feel as unique and bold as the company itself.

Design Concept
At the heart of the design was a double-height feature space that became the focal point of the office. A bold, yellow-clad “treehouse” meeting room was inserted into the volume, perched above a bleacher-seating townhall area. A prominent staircase connected the two, turning the whole feature into a lively hub for presentations, team updates, and informal gatherings.
Brand colours, playful environmental graphics, and tactile finishes were used throughout the office to capture Intact’s spirited identity. The resulting space was equal parts professional and joyful—celebrating the company’s growth while setting the tone for its next chapter.
Challenges & Solutions
Managing two geographically separate stakeholder teams added complexity to the design process, requiring careful coordination and consistent communication to align expectations and secure buy-in. Crux implemented structured review sessions and visual storytelling tools to maintain alignment and momentum across teams in London and Ireland.
Another key learning from this project was the value of offering an expanded suite of services early in the design process. The project’s technical requirements—including structural integration for the treehouse and bleacher seating, MEP coordination, AV/IT planning, and acoustic performance—highlighted the benefit of bundling these services into Crux’s offer to streamline delivery.
Crux also identified a clear boundary where design accountability should transfer: the Stage 4–6 design pack. Ensuring that the delivery team owns and is contractually responsible for the later-stage documentation helped protect design intent and reduced miscommunication during construction.
Final Outcome
The final space was a confident, energetic, and distinctly “Intact” workplace. The central feature space—anchored by the treehouse and townhall—brought together form, function, and fun, becoming a favourite zone among employees. The project marked an evolution in Crux’s service model, prompting the team to more formally integrate engineering and delivery-aligned services in future projects to ensure technical clarity and executional accountability.
